Miami's Best Eats and Drinks This Weekend: Saketober, Octoberfest, and National Taco Day

Did you feel the crisp air this morning? Are your neighbors carving pumpkins? Autumn has arrived in Miami, and it's the best time of year. The days aren't scorching, the nights are less humid, and the scent of pumpkin lattes fill the air. This weekend is a celebration of fall, with Octoberfest, pumpkin treats, and Saketober celebrations!

The weekend starts now!

SushiSamba Celebrates Saketober
SushiSamba on Lincoln Road in South Beach is celebrating Saketober through Friday, October 30, with a host of sake flights and sake-infused cocktails. Sake cocktails are $9 and include a sake caipirinha, a sake negroni, and a saketini. The restaurant is also offering special sake flights, produced by some of the only female master brewers (toji) in Japan. A flight of three glasses is $19. Look for the geisha, who will perform traditional sake serving rituals for guests.

Sam Adams Octoberfest
The sixth-annual Sam Adams Octoberfest takes over Miami's beer capital, Wynwood this weekend. Styled after the famed Munich festival, this Octoberfest offers live music and entertainment featuring the International Polka Band. Enter the Miss Octoberfest or raise the stein contests, and eat German favorites like bratwurst, pretzels, and strudel. Of course, there's lots of Sam Adams Octoberfest beer flowing. Admission is free, and an online offer gets you a souvenir half-liter stein, mug with beer, a pretzel necklace, and swag for $15. Sam Adams Octoberfest is located at Sam Adams Castle at Mana Wynwood. Hours are Friday, October 2, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday, October 3, from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday, October 4, from noon to 8 p.m. For more information, visit

Klima Happy Hour on Weekends
The worst thing about happy hour is it's never around when you need it — like on Friday and Saturday evenings. Klima Restaurant and Bar, however, boasts a happy hour from 6 to 8 p.m. daily, except Sunday. Enjoy signature cocktails, wines by the glass, or the weekly house liquor for $8 each and enjoy tapas-style plates including oysters with ponzu sauce and salmon roe ($4 each); scallops sashimi with egg yolk, soya, and lemon ($10 for two pieces); salmorejo ($12); parmentier – half-cooked egg and ham ($16); and other treats.

Tijuana Flats Celebrates National Taco Day
Sunday, October 4, is National Taco Day, and the best way to celebrate is with two-buck tacos and dollar beers. Tijuana Flats (13256 Biscayne Blvd., North Miami) is offering tacos for $2 all day (50 cents extra for steak or carnitas). Wash them down with beers for a buck and you've got the most frugal fiesta known to mankind. Eat enough, and you'll do the Nae Nae just like this taco!

Bunnie Cakes' October Cupcakes
If you're a fan of Bunnie Cakes' little vegan treats, you'll adore the bakery's two new fall flavors. Choose from pumpkin spice, topped with cream cheese frosting and cinnamon, or enjoy a pink velvet cupcake, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Both cupcakes are available in vegan and vegan and gluten-free varieties. In Wynwood, the cupcakes are $2 (vegan) and $2.20 (vegan/gluten-free) and at Aventura Mall the cupcakes are $2.20 (vegan) and $2.40 (vegan/gluten-free).

Octoberfest at Marlins Park
The fourth-annual Octoberfest hits Marlins Park on Sunday, October 4, from 3 to 9 p.m. with plenty of beer, music, German food, and carnival rides. Tickets start at $20 and go up to $52 for VIP, which includes early admission and access to special beers. For tickets, visit
