Vic & Angelo's Italian Restaurant, the newest kid on the Ocean Drive block in South Beach, had its official opening on Friday, November 4. They've been open for a while but last night was the big night.

On hand for the festivities was none other than George Clooney's former main squeeze, Elisabetta Canalis. Not that any of the press was able to get closer to her than I will ever get to Georgie boy, but at least she was actually there.

Chef Alain Zimmer along with his pastry expert chef Mauricio (from Guatemala) prepared signature cocktails and formidable sweets for VIP guests.

Trays of desserts were displayed on a large white marble table and included chocolate- covered strawberries, mini tiramisu, mini cannolis, cheesecake lollypops, tartlets made with chocolate cream and topped a variety of berries, vanilla custard cups also topped with colorful berries and (be still my heart), profiteroles.

Also on the special hors d'oeuvres menu, filet mignon strips of steak on crunchy toasted bread, cucumbers sandwiches with salmon and Italian meat balls with raviolis.

Vic & Angelo's has a full Italian menu and a wide selection of prime steaks, fish and over two dozen different choices of pastas and side dishes. But if you're in the SoBe neighborhood after an evening of clubbing and beach strolling and you crave a yummy dessert and a potent beverage, make this, your evenings romantic last stop and enjoy decadent desserts and happy spirits.
