It's another Friday and this weekend's theme is all about the pop-up...and brunch (because there's no such thing as a weekend without a few mimosas).
It's a good time to try out the new pop-ups in town and, because we're into instant gratification, we're inviting you to start the weekend immediately (if not sooner) by scoring freshly baked pop-tarts for breakfast (hint: buy some for your office mates or risk having them tell the boss you really didn't have the flu last Tuesday).
Then, head out to our second pop-up later in the evening for some free libations and a chance to contact the dead (seriously), before meeting the gang for brunch by a James Beard semifinalist.

House Baked Pop-Tarts at Illegal
Sure, anyone could bring a dozen doughnuts to the Friday marketing meeting -- but how many points will you score when you show up with house-made pop-tarts?
These beauts are baked daily and available at the Illegal Bakery pop-up at Taperia Raca. The pop-up takes over the tapas restaurant Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with goodies baked lovingly by partners (and real-life lovebirds) Mikey Mayta and Keily Vasquez. They offer a host of goodies like granola, oat bars, muffins, and macarons ($2) but what made us swoon were the pop-tarts. Each day features a surprise flavor -- like guanabana and dulce de leche, nutella and banana, blueberry and tamarind, or guava.
Free Cocktails at Better Days
You know what's better than discovering a new pop-up cocktail lounge in Brickell? Celebrating the official grand opening with free cocktails. Today, August 8, enjoy free cocktails and beer from 9 p.m. to midnight at the opening party of this relaxed, 1970s-inspired space. The bar is open for regular hours and fun from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily and is located on the ground floor of the 500 Brickell building.

It's Saturday and you're under pressure to pick the newest, best brunch place in Miami. We've got you covered. The District Miami's new brunch, served Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., features a decadent roster of goodies like pineapple pancakes ($9); deviled eggs ($7); guava French toast with guava syrup ($10); and huevos racheros ($10). Wash it down with bottomless mimosas ($14) and toast to chef Horacio Rivadero, the James Beard semifinalist responsible for your blissful food coma.
