Things To Do

Whole Foods Grecian Dinner & Wine Pairing Tomorrow

Healthy eating is taking over the world one Whole Foods at a time. Short Order's very own Camille Lamb even traded her pen for an apron. While the rest of us aren't that enthusiastic, we still love to be kept up to date of healthy happenings and partake in them, especially when they deal with wine.

This Friday, June 14, Whole Foods Coral Gables will hosting an elegant (and healthy, duh!) three-course dinner with wine pairings. Haven't you ever heard a glass of wine a day keeps the doctor away?

The three-course dinner is Greek and the wine pairings are a mix between white, red, and sweet, to accompany dessert. Don't worry, that's healthy too. The menu features the following: traditional Greek salad with cucumbers, heirloom tomatoes, red onions, red and yellow peppers, marinated artichokes, Kalamata olives and feta cheese, tossed in a light lemon herb dressing -- paired with a 2011 Paso Robles Sauvignon Blanc; marinated grilled chicken kebabs or grilled lemon rock sole over roasted garlic and herb orzo pilaf with grilled seasonal vegetables -- paired with a 2011 Landmark Chardonnay & 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon; and Baklava topped with Greek yogurt, grilled peaches and a drizzle of honey for dessert -- paired with a 2009 Obtuse to end the night of a sweet note.

At $30, the meal is more affordable than s simple visit to Whole Foods. And in case you don't know too much about wine, don't worry, the dinner comes with a lesson. Justin Vineyards specialist Gil Hicks will be there to meet, greet, and discuss the product of the family-owned and operated winery that will be paired with all of the offerings.

Dinner begins promptly at 7 p.m. and pre-registration is required. It can't be taken over the phone. One must visit customer service. Ah, the complications of eating at Whole Foods.
