South Florida Beer Week might sound like some low-budget flick by the makers of the American Pie films, but it's real and in its second year.
The event, which covers a lot of territory, from Miami all the way to Jupiter, is filled with beer-pairing dinners, tastings, and happenings. Short Order is posting all Miami-area events.

Saturday, January 19
South Florida Beer Week kickoff party and pig roast
7 p.m. at Front Porch Café
Executive chef Todd Webster is firing up the caja china for a Cuban-style pig roast. All you can eat plus two pints of local beer costs only $30.
Tuesday, January 22
Local craft beer pairing and happy hour
5 p.m. till closing at OTC: Over the Counter
OTC will pair four dishes with four beers. Each pairing will be offered individually so you can create your own pairing experience. Pairings include Maduro-braised short rib and Brie grilled cheese sandwich with Cigar City Maduro Brown Ale; chipotle barbecue pulled pork sliders with Tequesta Gnarly Barley; beer-battered shrimp and corn fritters with Monk in the Trunk; and roasted beet and feta salad with Ommegang Witte.
Swamp Head brewery night
7 p.m. till closing at LoKal
LoKal will feature a special selection of beers from Gainesville's Swamp Head. Other surprises are in the works.

Local Florida tap takeover at Abraxas Lounge
Abraxas will turn its taps over to local Florida breweries this entire week. Enjoy beers from Swamp Head, Three Palms, Green Room, Cigar City, and others.
South Florida Pride at Gramps
Engine 15, Three Palms, and other Florida beers will be available at Gramps in Wynwood.
