Allen West's entire four years in Washington were essentially a giant performance art piece aimed at Fox News viewers. The Republican rep would bluster at a Muslim constituent that "you attacked us," or claim that 80 sitting Democrats in Congress are secret communists or blabber about gays "breaking down" the military, and Fox News would happily plaster his face all over the airwaves for a few hours.

Now that West is out of Congress, the team finally made their relationship formal this morning, with the network hiring the ex-politico as a contributor.

"Representative West's congressional and military experience along with his fearless approach to voicing key issues will provide a valuable point of view to the FOX News lineup," Fox's Vice President Bill Shine said in a statement.

Fox didn't release many details about the gig, but you'll probably be able to find West popping up as a talking head with regularity.

The only real surprise here is that it took Fox this long to snap up the outspoken Army vet after he lost his seat to Democrat Patrick Murphy this past fall.
