In the immortal words of high priestess Beyoncé, "All the single ladies! All the single ladies! Put your hand up!"
Oh, wait, what's that? Hold on let me count. Apparently, there's not that many of you in Miami. According to an analysis of by Trulia.com, Miami is one of the top cities where single men greatly outnumber single women.
Jed Kolko dug into the real estate site's data and "looked at the ratio of men living alone to women living alone in order to assess the dating scene." He also tried to eliminate the number of gays and lesbians to focus on the same-sex dating scene. (Gays get their own separate but equal post on the matter. Unsurprisingly, Wilton Manors, up in Broward, makes that list.) Those 65 and older were also eliminated from the data pool.
When everything was left, Kolko found that for every young straight woman living alone in Miami there were 1.2 straight single guys living alone.
Yes, sorry for those of you with roommates. You also weren't taking into account, because Trulia's survey data suggests that the vast majority of people prefer to date someone who lives on their own.
Miami's skewed ratio makes it the seventh most tilted in favor of ladies in America. Las Vegas is first. (But who wants to date a single man in Las Vegas, really?) The Palm Bay-Melbourne region of Florida also makes the list at number three.
Of course, this is all bad news for single men in Miami. Your dating pool is considerably smaller. If you're looking for a place to move where single women outnumber single men move to the Bathesda-area of Marlyand. Good luck with that.
