Kathryn Wright apparently couldn't face the idea chaperoning her grandchild's elementary school field trip sober, so police say she decided to down two water bottles full of vodka. Predictably, it didn't end well.
According to Florida Today, Wright, 58 of Palm Bay, was chaperoning a school trip to Wonder Works on Thursday. Fellow chaperones got tipped off that Wright wasn't quite in her right state of mind when she started tripping around the school bus and yelling profanities at other chaperones.
Another chaperone tried to calm Wright down, but Wright shoved the volunteer and cursed them out.
"Get the fuck out of my way or else," she reportedly shouted.
Eventually police were called.
Wright admitted to downing two water bottles full of diluted vodka. Police found the bottles in the trash and noted they smelled of alcohol. She had marked the bottle caps with "K" (presumably for Kathryn) to distinguish them from her grandchild's water.
At the time, Wright seemed so intoxicated that she was not able to stand or walk and was taken to the hospital before jail. She was then booked on misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct.
Needless to say, many of the kids were traumatized.
