After months of hype, The Webster's Target collection finally hit stores on Sunday. After the crazy scene that broke out over the Jason Wu for Target collection in February, how would Miami shoppers react to a homegrown collection? We hit the Target at Midtown to see for ourselves.
We arrived a little before 8:30 a.m. in hopes that we'd dodge all of the crazed collectors and fashionistas (we didn't want to have to fight for clothing) at the Midtown location. We succeeded.
We've broken down the good, the bad, and the ill-fitting from the collection. Because really, a picture might be worth a thousand words, but a Photoshopped and highly styled one? Not so much.

The Good
White embroidered fabric dress with cutout back detailing, $39.99
Now this dress was simply adorable. It's much cuter in person than in the photos. We're drawn to the criss-cross back detailing and the back cut-out. The embroidered lace-like fabric is pretty cute, too.
Cami and mini shorts PJ set, palm tree print, $24.99
This set was surprisingly true to size, and the cotton fabric makes this extremely comfy. The lace detailing is a nice touch, and the cut of the tank is very flattering.
Hats! (Men's and Women's, some only available in stores), $19.99
These hats are definitely statement pieces. The attention to detailing (see: the inside of the men's hat) makes for a more luxe feel, but be warned: The men's hats run small, and are one size only.
Men's Miami T-Shirt, $19.99
This men's shirt made us smile. Sure, it's a little cliche, but why not advertise your favorite city while traveling elsewhere? This fits true to size. (And we're pretty sure we'll see quite a few girls buying these, too.)
Menswear, menswear, menswear
Just overall, the menswear was a real standout. The pieces looked very much like the advertisements, for the most part, and, well, all of those pops of color would definitely make Brad Goreski proud.
The Bad
Blazers (men's, $49.99 and women's, $49.99)
Pursed seams, strange cuts. These just aren't flattering for most figures, unfortunately.
Navy, melon, and deco print scoop neck dress, $39.99
Only one thing about this dress put it in the bad category for us: The smell. Yes, you read that right. Have you ever smelled fabric? Most of it is odorless. But not these dresses. We smelled a few of them. It smells like a combination of a factory, glue, and something else. We can't pin it down. (And to be honest, we don't want to have to smell it anymore.)
Scarves, $19.99 each
These scarves were probably the worst quality pieces of the entire collection. Seams were frayed everywhere (unintentionally), loose threads, snagged parts on the fabric. And this was at 9am, the first day they're put on the shelves. Imagine how they'll look after a week of wear.
Leaf drop Earrings, $14.99
Okay, we'll admit that we loved these when we saw them on the site. But in person? They kind of look like something we could find at Claire's.
The Ill-Fitting
Webster for Target bandeau swim top, $22.99
We were drawn to the print and style of this top, but once we tried it on, we noticed how big it runs. Another minus: There are no hooks on this top, so you'll have to tie up the top and the bottom. Not very realistic for spending the day in the water.
Light coral bouquet print triangle bra, $16.99
We had high hopes for this piece. It looks adorable on the hanger. But once we tried it on, we noticed one major problem: There is hardly any elastic in the band of the bra. What does that mean, exactly? Even at the last hook, a size medium will have to wear a Large to XL, and have no room to breathe. Not very comfortable.
Critics Notebook
The Crowd: We arrived a little before 8:30 a.m. (the store opens at 8 a.m. on Sundays), and there were maybe three women and six men there for the Shops at Target. Definitely not a repeat of the Jason Wu scenes of a few months ago.
What's missing: You won't find any shoes or kidswear at the Midtown store. But you'll find plenty of it here and here.
The stand outs: The menswear, the embroidered lace-like fabric on the dresses and skirts, the sheer fabrics from the kaftans, the sleepwear (surprisingly cute and comfy).
