We survived this year's Art Basel Miami Beach by complaining and drinking, crawling out at the other end of the grinding, art-stuffed week-long nightmare, barely clinging to life.
But The Overthrow crew didn't care that we're tired. They kept the party going at Goldrush Miami last night. And their Hard 2 Leave strip club bash added a definitively human, performative element to a week of corporate-sponsored parties and fairly commercial art fairs.
You might think people would've been too art-worn to make it out. Or too broke for the $20 cover. But you'd be wrong.
All sorts of leftover Baselites from around the world -- including Miami party troopers and, of course, scumbags -- packed the place, throwing down bills like Clinton was still in office. There's something liberating about throwing your rent money at a topless dancer. Liberating and stupid.
Undoubtedly, though, Goldrush brought out the best butts for the night. The stage was a booty oasis in a sea of insanity. Us pervs gawked, showering all the nude women with cash.
In honor of the good bottoms, Assault's mix of "Ass 'N' Titties" blared. And then Ludacris's "What's Your Fantasy" inspired a few interesting moves. We heard UNK's "Walk It Out" and some Soulja Boy stuff. There was even a moment of dubstep in there.
The Overthrow's Alexis Mincolla brought YC's "Racks" to "Bump 'N Grind" following up with a healthy dose of "No Diggity." And DJs slated to show included Craze, Heroes x Villains, Tamara Sky, Ninjasonik, Caligula, Spinstyles, Troy Kurtz, and Sofa King.
The strippers stopped dancing before the music stopped playing. Party people stayed all the way into the night.
Admittedly, it wasn't hard for us to leave Basel behind. But it was a pleasure doing it with a bunch of naked ladies.
