More MCs have put their mind to the big butt issue than there are scientists working on curing cancer. And obviously, in rap music, the bigger the booty, the better.

Modern asses are reaching colossal proportions, but not all of the best butt songs are new. Let's take a walk down memory lane and honor some of the greatest music about asses ever.

10. A Tribe Called Quest's "Bonita Applebum"

A Tribe Called Quest is one of the greatest hip-hop groups in the history of rap music. They penned this little ode to the swole in 1990, and while it's no twerking anthem, we'd venture to say it's the sexiest song on the list. The sonic equivalent of someone running their hands over your body. That's hot.

9. Busta Rhymes' "Light Your Ass on Fire," Featuring Pharrell

This beat is freakin' nasty, and Busta is one of the greatest rappers of all time. That stadium echo makes us wanna writhe like a belly dancer and stomp around like a Sigma. We love the understated-ness of this booty banger. A girl almost gets the feeling that Busta's only interested in admiring the ass like a precious artifact. Hermmm.

8. Soundmaster T's "2 Much Booty (In Da Pants)"

This MC may be from Chicago, but he is going in on the booty bass like he's from the MIA. This is an ass-shaking classic, a must-play in any big butt playlist. The '90s synths are so jerky, they demand you put on some denim cutoffs and flop those cheeks around like your life depends on it. Make sure that face is ugly while you do it.

7. Wreckx-n-Effect's "Rump Shaker"

Smooth '90s jazzy butt brilliance. The sample is unforgettable, and the hook is delicious like Nutella. It's somehow both sophisticated and puerile, exactly what a song about fat asses should be.

6. Big Sean's "Ass"

This song was like diarrhea when it came out -- the shit was everywhere. (Haha, butt-related puns.) Anyway, it may still be a little played out, but it's a certified booty banger. Big Sean is a boss, and it's kind of funny when Nicki Minaj talks about her own "ass shots." The radio version had the lyrics all "dance, dance, dance," but we know what it's really all 'bout.

5. Bubba Sparxx' "Ms. New Booty," Featuring Ying Yang Twins

Certainly Sparxx' most memorable hit, and the Ying Yang Twins feature adds even more finger-lickin' Southern flavor. Our favorite part is when Bubba talks about how he used to be a booby boy, but changed his mind to be all like "your chest is just whatever, I found the buried treasure." Get it right, get it tight, indeed.

4. Mos Def's "Ms. Fat Booty"

The artist formerly known as Mos Def (now Yasiin Bey) is one of the most talented rappers in the history of hip-hop. He can get any Ms. Fat Booty on the planet. And we don't think anyone's ever been so eloquent about the ass as this here fine wordsmith. He takes the classic storytelling approach to recounting the ill-fated tale of what happens when a man falls for bootylicious mistresses. It's hard to find a loyal bum, but it sure is fun.

3. Pitbull's "Culo"

Umm, hello, this is Miami. We love Pitbull, especially back in the M.I.A.M.I. era. This was the boy's breakout hit, reaching number 11 on the Billboard rap chart in 2004. He's perfectly paired with Lil Jon, who was not yet a surburban favorite and still a nasty strip-club monster. Also, the whole chorus is in Spanish, which is pretty bossy.

2. Juvenile's "Back That Ass Up," Featuring Mannie Fresh and Lil Wayne

This isn't just one of the best songs about big butts, it's one of the best songs, period. As soon as the intro hits, it's obvious that we're in for some serious trouble on the dance floor. That flow is iconic, most recently ripped by 2 Chainz for his hit "Used 2." When this booty banger came out, Juvenile was the man , and he wasn't beatin' around the bush in the slightest. Add Mannie Fresh and Lil Wayne, and it's a Grade-A ass anthem for the ages.

1. Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back"

Look at how surprised you are ... This is the obvious greatest song about big butts ever. Back in 1992, when "Baby Got Back" was first released, it wasn't cool to have a fat ass. Now ladies risk possible death to plump their rumps. Chances are pretty good you know every word of this song. It's like the best thing you ever heard while in middle school, and it'll probably be the best ass anthem until the world ends.
