Sleigh Bells, the noise pop duo from Brooklyn whose debut album, Treats, generated a shit-ton of blog buzz last year, including Pitchfork's "Best New Music" award, and a nearly perfect review in Paste, is hitting the road this spring for a North American tour with CSS. But when Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss play Grand Central on April 30, their Brazilian tour mates won't be joining them.
A month before Sleigh Bells passes through Florida, Ultra Music Festival welcomes the world of electro music to Downtown Miami, and included in that noisy bunch is CSS. Our guess as to why they're not playing with Bells is that a contractual agreement prohibits the South American group from performing in the Magic City so close to Ultra. Contracts suck.
Nonetheless, Crossfade's stoked about Sleigh Bells in Miami. Treats lived up to the blogospheric hype last year, proving that when frenzied, overdriven beats are shoved down your ear canal, and then blended with sweet pop vocals, the outcome is a thrilling, 30-minute journey through conceptual indie rock.
And speaking of conceptual, MIller's bro, Diplo, was hinting at a potential Derek Miller/Major Lazer/Beyonce collaboration yesterday on Mad Decent's blog. Did y'all know Diplo and Miller are homeboys from back-in-the-day Broward County?
