Trying out a new car is as easy as slipping a slim jim in a lock, hacking a keyless entry, busting a window with a spark plug, using a dent puller to trigger an ignition, cracking a steering column, swerving around town, and dumping some schmuck’s whip in the Miami River post-joy ride. But grand theft auto is more trouble than it’s worth when the 41st annual South Florida International Auto Show is in town. This Friday through November 6 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, you can ogle hundreds of shiny vehicles from every major manufacturer, get environmental at the all-new Green Way, and, yes, drive a brand-new car you can’t afford without getting arrested. Valid licensed drivers 18 and older will get to test-drive the latest Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, and Toyota vehicles or sit shotgun with trained instructors on off-road, four-wheel-drive courses at Camp Jeep. There will also be a huge assortment of street rides, classics, tuners, drifters, exotics, and antiques on display.
