Swedish power-poppers the Sounds have been saddled with Blondie comparisons since the beginning. Its an obvious but accurate tag. Like that legendary New York New Wave act, the Sounds are fronted by an unforgettable, high-cheekboned, blond beauty with a fierce stage presence and sharp style. But musically, the comparison isnt too far off either. The Sounds have perfected a just-punk-enough, high-octane brand of danceable rock that laces a little spice under all that sugar.
The bands 2002 debut album, Living in America, spun social commentary into the dance jams, though its fourth and latest, Something to Die For, decidedly focuses on more radio-friendly fare. The Sounds will play Culture Room with Wallpaper, the Constellation, and Kids at the Bar.
