Some performers, like Madonna, are shrewd enough to continually reinvent themselves in order to remain culturally relevant. And other performers, like Vanessa Williams, are talented enough to maintain their cultural relevance simply through sheer awesomeness. A Grammy-winning recording artist, Tony-nominated stage actress, and Emmy-winning actress, the dethroned Miss America knows how to make a comeback. After all, who remembers the name of last years Miss America? Not us.
But we do remember dedicating Williamss hit single Save the Best for Last to our high school girlfriend and laughing our ass off at the divas delightfully devilish portrayal of Wilhelmina Slater on ABCs Ugly Betty. This Saturday, Williams will bring her baby-blues to the Arsht Center. For $200 plus tax and tip, you get a three-course meal at Prelude by Barton G, preferred seating for the show, plus the experience of watching Ms. Williams seduce a microphone.
