Dophin-Free Basketball

January was a month of bad mojo for our major sports teams, thanks mostly to the Miami Dolphins and their refusal to stop sucking. The Fins not only missed the playoffs, but embarrassed themselves nationally with their botched attempt to get a new head coach, while trying to save face with their old one. Meanwhile, hated rival New York Jets made it to their second-straight AFC Championship game. Problem is, the bad Fins’ mojo seemed to have infected the Miami Heat as well. The Heat suffered a four-game losing streak — their longest of the season so far — while LeBron James and Chris Bosh both lost playing time to ankle injuries. But once the Super Bowl has come and gone, we can get back to focusing solely on Heat basketball, and not so much on the canned ass that is the Miami Dolphins. No more pesky bad Dolphins vibes getting in the way. On top of that, Mike Miller finally had his breakout performance two weeks ago against the Raptors. See? It’s working already. The Heat host the Indiana Pacers this Tuesday night at the American Airlines Arena.
