Were big believers in the adage When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. So who gives a crap if practically every sports team in Miami or Florida pissed itself in shame this season? Just because were at the bottom of the championship possibility pile doesnt mean we cant party like were winners, right? Right? Who cares if the Orange Bowl is being torn down and we went out with a whimper instead of a bang? Were gonna tailgate like were rooting for the home team at todays WaMu Orange Bowl Fan Fest. Show those out-of-towners that no fans can get drunker, rowdier, or more ridiculously celebratory than us locals. Woo hoo! Three-oh-five represent!
The fest takes place at Margaret Pace Park, and therell be all of the typical pep rally offerings lots of face-painted jocks and jockettes freely imbibing in the afternoon sun. The music, food, and fun begin at 1 p.m. and continue till 7. A full roster of local performers is scheduled, but this years headliner is Collective Soul, comin atcha straight out of the Nineties. Is it still cool enough to wear a flannel shirt for old times sake?
