Ahhh, grapes. Who would have guessed that a fruit no bigger than your big toe could bring the world so much joy? Kids love the refreshing taste of its juice poured over ice, and adults love the fruit when barrels of it are sprinkled with yeast and fermented to perfection. But this isnt Highlights for Children -- its New Times, and we like our grapes the grown-up way. Luckily for us, the Miami Wine & Food Festival is here from April 3 through 5, with promises to make us very happy with a cadre of culinary and wine events.
Check www.miamiwinefestival.org for a full schedule of the tastings, charity auctions, and dinners. But tonight you should just take our word for it and head to Hotel InterContinental Miami for the interactive dinner led by celebrity chef Stephen Lewandowski of New Yorks Tribeca Grill. For $300 per person, you and seven tablemates can prepare your own decadent three-course meal, which will include dishes like seared sea scallops topped with wild asparagus, and black-trumpet-crusted lamb loin. Dont worry -- Chef Lewandowski will be over your shoulder and helping you out each step of the way. The dinner begins at 7:30. Call 305-371-WINE or visit the website for tickets. All proceeds from the festival will benefit the United Way of Miami-Dade and Camillus House.
