The Last Mistress is everything you could want in a French film. There's a hot boy, a seductive girl, a scandal of the aristocracy, an extramarital affair, plenty of uncensored sex, and, finally, a duel. The story centers around Ryno, a roguish gentleman reputed in French high society for his dissolute ways and empty bank account. But because he sports the most pillowy lips in the Western hemisphere, he charms the aristocracy and wins the hand of Hermangarde, the young and innocent jewel of the French crown. Not long after they're married and ensconced in a castle, Ryno's vengeful Spanish mistress of 10 years comes to spoil the couple's ever after. Scandalicious!
Sex and scandal aside, The Last Mistress is an acclaimed film that has won recognition at the Cannes Film Festival (and many other fests as well). It screens at 7:45 p.m. at the Miami Beach. Tickets cost $10. Call 305-673-4567, or visit www.mbcinema.com.
