If youre looking for something to do thats a little historic and a lot cheap, the Taste of MiMos second installment is ripe and ready for the tasting. This culinary neighborhood showcase is presented by the Biscayne MiMo Association. For the regional-acronym-deficient, MiMo refers to the Miami Modern architectural design period between 1945 and 1965. This Saturday, take a stroll through the streets and gawk at the architecture of restored hotels and South Floridas coolest motel signs. Once youve stuffed yourself with the sights, fill your belly with goodies from MiMos storeowners and restaurateurs along Biscayne Boulevard. Nibble on tasty vittles and check out a wide range of wares from shops selling everything from antiques to ultra-modern wares. Dont worry about recent traffic nightmare one-lane Biscayne. Construction is finished, and driving through here is a breeze.
The delectables for sale start at just two dollars, and participating in MiMos historic walking tour, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Vagabond Motel, 7301 Biscayne Blvd., will set you back only ten bucks. Visit mimoboulevard.org.
