Winter Music Conference left a trail of audio destruction in its wake, but local music aficionados know that the Rhythm Foundation, now in its 21st year, puts on more than 300 shows a year in South Florida, and the Heineken Transatlantic Festival promises a month of high-caliber international bookings. The festival was launched as a means of broadening club culture by presenting topnotch, foreign innovators. Tonight's free kick-off party will highlight some of the talent associated with Zizek, an Argentine club/label currently on a North American tour.

The night will feature sets by three of Zizek's acts: Fauna — two MCs and a DJ direct from the foothills of the Andes — will push boundaries with digital cumbia, which places broadly influenced raps over electronic versions of traditional beats. El G — Zizek's resident DJ and label manager — mixes Latin sounds with tech, step, hop, and tón, so expect to get your mind blown. And for the grand finale, the young production wizard behind what has been termed lazer-bass-cumbia-reggaeton, a man known as Douster, will put his style on smash for the dance floor’s enjoyment.
