The first question that pops into mind when considering the inaugural Jam Cruise: Why book fifteen jam band acts? Despite the presence of Disco Biscuits, Umphrey's McGee, and members of the String Cheese Incident, this isn't entirely a Phish-ing expedition; there's also the jazz-funk of Galactic, manic drum and bass from Ming & FS, the artful turntablism of DJ Z-Trip, and the back-porch blues stylings of Florida's own Mofro, among others. And no Jam Cruise worth its sea salt could exist without at least one FOGD (Friend of the Grateful Dead) on board -- that'd be bassist Rob Wasserman. If you get tired of noodle dancing, there's always morning yoga on the sports deck, drum circles in the Mermaid Lounge, and all that great cruise ship food. But steer clear of the mushroom soup, okay?
