The COVID-19 vaccine is available to all Floridians 5 and older. According to the Florida Department of Health, of the 21 million Florida residents, 14.6 million have gotten vaccinated as of December 10. Several reports say that Miami-Dade’s vaccination rate stands above 90 percent; however, many experts dispute that claim.

Three versions of the COVID-19 vaccine are being offered — the two-dose Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Minors between 5 and 17 may only receive the Pfizer vaccine.

Booster shots are also available to anyone ages 16 and older. Boosters for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine can be given at least six months after the second COVID-19 vaccine, while Johnson & Johnson can be administered two months after the first single-dose shot. For your booster, you can receive any of the authorized COVID-19 vaccines. Early studies have shown that mixing COVID-19 vaccine shots have provided a better immune response.

Florida residents may be vaccinated at any site across the state. Here's a list of sites administering the vaccine in South Florida.
