Kirsten Hines' exhibit, Celebration! Photography from the New Book 'Biscayne National Park', will be on display in the Park’s Dante Fascell Visitor Center Gallery from October 18 to January 14, kicking off a 15-month long celebration of the park’s 50th anniversary in 2018.
In their new book 'Biscayne National Park', Kirsten Hines and James A. Kushlan capture in words and images the story of the Park from before its European discovery in the 1500s, to its designation as a national monument in 1968, to now. For the last 50 years the Park has protected the bulk of Biscayne Bay, its Caribbean-style limestone islands topped with tropical forest, its coral reefs, its wildlife, its remnants of a rich human history and its recreational opportunities that continue to attract half a million visitors a year. This exhibit celebrates Biscayne National Park’s golden 50-year anniversary with a selection of Kirsten’s photographs from the book to show the Park as it is today.
