With locations in Brickell, midtown Miami, Doral, and Weston, Barú is now opening its largest venue, in Kendall at the Palms at Town & Country.

The new 5,000-square-foot space will feature two terraces and three bars and is expected to open late October, in time for Halloween. The Kendall location will offer a menu that pays homage to different parts of Latin America via Venezuelan tequeños, Mexican tacos, and parrilladas from Argentina. For the opening party, which is still in the works, the bar will offer complimentary shots of aguardiente, a Colombian sugarcane spirit. Although the menu isn't set, drink prices will be lower than those at its sister venues, with premium cocktails priced at $10, well drinks at $8, and beers from $5 to $6.

Barú Group CEO Hector Antunez says he wants people to enjoy a bar with a chill vibe and no pretentiousness. “It’s a diverse bar menu and atmosphere. We just want to create a neighborhood bar experience where people can come, relax, and somewhere where the bartender knows your name."

The Barú Group executive notes the brand has been going through some changes. The midtown Miami location closed for refurbishment and is due to reopen in about three months as a cocktail bar. The Brickell outpost reopened six months ago after a brief closure, and the newest location in Weston has been in business for four months.

With all the openings and closings, a location in Kendall holds special meaning for Antunez. He recalls going to Town & Country with his family after moving to America from Venezuela more than a dozen years ago.

"When I was little, my parents used to take me to Town & Country to go Christmas shopping with them, so it’s pretty surreal we’re opening up a Barú in that shopping mall where I have memories since I as like 4 years old,” Antunez says. “It’s extremely emotional for me. I’m hoping it becomes the neighborhood bar for the next decade.”

Barú Latin Bar is slated to open in October, and operating hours will be Monday and Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., Thursday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
