But after the City of Miami dragged its feet issuing the required documents, Man decided to jump on the opportunity to take over an establishment just a few doors down from the original 305 Brews site. The new address for the restaurant, 3535 NE Second Ave., is proving to be more manageable, with necessary permits in place, and Man hopes to have the doors open wide by late summer.
The new location, according to Man, is a stroke of good luck. "The fact that I can open my place on the very same spot where my favorite local hangout used to be is serendipitous. I have fond memories of hanging out here when it used to be Stop Miami. Needless to say, we’re excited to open our doors this coming August.
"It’s a smooth transition due to the fact that the place was previously a restaurant, and we will have more space with a bigger patio area to serve our guests and create an even better atmosphere."
305 Brews, named as an homage to both beer and coffee, will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving both types of brews.
The bar will offer 16 beers on tap, including seasonals and imports. The main emphasis, of course, will be on local South Florida and Tampa craft beers. In addition, a rotating selection of bottled beer and wines will be available.
The coffee will be roasted exclusively for the restaurant in North Miami and the menu will serve burgers, tapas, and salads. Tapas will run $8 to $15, with local craft beers costing around $7.
Man's philosophy is to keep prices in line so people can return frequently. "It's about bringing the neighborhood bar back. That's why we chose beer and tapas — they're the most social food and drink around."
