Critics may have their fair share of things to say about Miami’s hip-hop scene, but it's hard not to argue that, lately, business has been booming. Within the last year alone, trending rappers like We the Best’s Kent Jones, Freebandz/Epic signee Zoey Dollaz, and Pompano Beach’s rising star Kodak Black have added chapters to Miami’s grand legacy in the rap game.

As the hip-hop community anticipates the next major act from the South, it’s our responsibility to bring you fresh sounds from all of Florida’s top artists and producers. So, every week, we plan to highlight new music from artists based on our side of the Sunshine State.

For our inaugural list, check out new music from lyricists Kodak Black, Robb Bank$, Wifisfuneral, Yoshi Thompkins, Miami Tip, and more.

5. Yoshi Thompkins ft. Denzel Curry and Ronny J, “Du Rags.”

Carol City rapper Denzel Curry joins Ronny J on rising rapper Yoshi Thompkins’ new single, “Du Rags.” Yoshi and Denzel ride the Miami wave with fast-paced verses that will blow your mind and Ronny J behind the boards. Yoshi’s new track is expected to appear on his forthcoming project, The Sun

4. Kodak Black, “Whole Time.”

Pompano Beach spitter Kodak Black may be going through some serious legal troubles, but that hasn’t stopped him from dropping new music. The 18-year-old rapper released his brand-new single “Whole Time” earlier this week. In the followup to his “News or Something” freestyle, Kodak gives advice to help inspire the youth to upgrade their hustle, no matter what it may be.

3. Robb Banks, “Innadat.”

Robb Bank$ continues to prove his notoriety in the rap game with his latest audio offering. Bank$ links up with fellow Broward rapper XXXTENTACION to spit braggadocio bars over heavy 808s and melodic synths. Although the track is just a snippet, it’s a brief preview of what we can expect to hear on Robb's upcoming mixtape Calendars 2.

2. Miami Tip,  “Drug Dealers Dream Freestyle.”

Formally known as Miami Tip Drill, Miami Tip has been slaying the competition one verse at a time since making music her top priority in 2013. With a slew of co-signers behind her like Trina, Drake, and Remy Boyz leader Fetty Wap, the stripper-turned-lyricist will stop at nothing to make it to the top. Recently, Miami Tip went in on her new “Drug Dealer’s Dream” freestyle with slick bars that stand out from the amateurs in South Florida.

1. Wifisfuneral, “Grim.”

Palm Beach natives Wifisfuneral give us a dark view of their everyday hustle in their new song "Grim." Producer Alex Freedo provides a dope instrumental for Isaiah Rivera, who spits brass bars all over the eerie trap beat. “Grim” appears on their forthcoming Black Heart Revenge, which drops today, May 27.
