Mi Vida Cafe Is Moving, Plans to Add Vegetable Garden and Outdoor Space

One of Miami's most popular vegan eateries is making moves — Mi Vida Cafe is relocating from its current location at 7244 Biscayne Blvd. to a new, bigger locale just down the road: the Midpoint shopping center at Biscayne Boulevard and NE 79th Street. 

"We’ve consistently grown over the last four years to the point where we need a larger space to accommodate our clientele and patrons," says Mi Vida's chef and owner Daniela La Gamma.

The Mi Vida team loves MiMo and wanted to stay in the same neighborhood, La Gamma says.

"It’s amazing how quickly the area is growing; it really seems to be progressing into a hub of spiritual, health, and wellness lifestyles," she explains. "There are plenty of yoga centers, gyms, holistic health centers, and vegan- and vegetarian-friendly options. We’re especially excited out the Midpoint shopping center; the management team has done a great job in being supportive and providing a quality location that continuously improves it."

The new spot will have the familiar Mi Vida feel, but they'll also be adding a vegetable garden and outdoor space.

"We’re really excited about this! We have over 5000 square feet of outdoor space along the river. It’s going to become a sustainable farm/agricultural space where our team will work with off-grid urban farming concepts, minimal soil agriculture, and organic hydroponics," explains La Gamma. "We plan on working with local horticulturists, educational specialist, and local and state nonprofits to deploy a number of charity, community, and charitable projects. Additionally we’re going to plan some awesome outdoor events during season."

The move is something of a risk. Though the MiMo district to the south has attracted several top restaurants including the Vagabond Motel, that rejuvenation has only started to spread to the shopping center. And the vacant immigration building across the street is planned for a hotel, but that project is far from reality.

As far as the menu, La Gamma says the team will be making minor changes to the existing menu items, expanding the breakfast menu (Mi Vida will be opening at 8:30 a.m. instead of the current 10 a.m.) and adding more raw dishes and chef's specials. 

"There will be many desserts and sweet options, grab-and-go items, and last but not least unique cocktails featuring perfect ingredients to pair with our food," she says.

The grand opening is tentatively planned for the end of September.
