Father's Day 2015 Gifts: Booze, Beer, and Bacon

Father's Day is this Sunday, June 21 and if you haven't gotten dad a gift yet, your procrastination has paid off! Forget the trip to the crowded mall to get your father yet another tie. He may be too kind and loving to tell you to your face, so we'll say it for him: Dad doesn't want a tie, or a photo mug, or a singing fish trophy. He wants booze, beer, and bacon!

A great gift if your dad is a fan of good literature or just a nice rum and a cigar. Papa's Pilar, the rum named after Ernest Hemingway's boat, Pilar, is offering a special Father's Day rum and cigar pairing to celebrate Papa's Day. Dad's home bar isn't complete without a bottle of Miami Club rum. This spirit is born and bred in Miami's first (legal) distillery, with pedigree that goes back five generations. The rum, distilled right here in Wynwood, is made from local sugarcane and other ingredients to create a smooth rum that's designed to work well in mojitos, daiquiris, and other classic cocktails. Even the bottle, fashioned after the classic Art Deco structures of Ocean Drive, is Miami. You've seen it happen at the backyard barbecue or the ballgame. Dad, while being a very cool guy in so many ways, still drinks the same beer he did in college. Well, it's time to turn the tables and give the man who taught you so much a little lesson in the fine art of beer tasting and there's no more fitting way than by buying him a growler of Wynwood Brewing Company's Pop's Porter. Made with a blend of roasted malts, this beer has a deep burgundy color and hints of chocolate, caramel, and coffee. Plus, the name is perfect for a Father's Day gift.
