Lunch is a dicey time of day. While Subway and Pollo Tropical are easy and accessible, most of us have higher aspirations than antibiotic-pumped chicken breasts and questionable lunch meats.

That's why Batch's new express lunch menu is designed for worker bees who don't have time for a two-hour interlude but still want a healthful midday meal.

The new vegan items include a grilled veggie sandwich made with roasted vegetables and sun-dried-tomato pesto on brioche; a quinoa grain salad bowl made with cucumber, grape tomatoes, radishes, red pepper, rum-soaked raisins, apple, red onion, mint, arugula, lemon, and extra-virgin olive oil; and black bean and corn lettuce wraps with onion, cilantro ,and tomato (to make them vegan, ask for no feta). Each of the new items costs $9.50.

The Brickell spot also now offers nitro cold-brewed coffee, complimentary for customers taking out or dining in.
"We want to cater to everyone in our neighborhood. We know that lunch is an important time to grab some healthy food that will energize you and get you through the rest of your day," says Jensen Eddins of Batch.

The new, plant-strong recipes were developed by Batch's in-house chefs.
"Chef Adrian Talavera and Ariel Rivero have a passion for fresh ingredients and flavors and have enjoyed making plant-based dishes in the past," Eddins adds. "We're excited to have them applying their knowledge to diversify our lunch menu and hope our guests enjoy these new additions."

The new lunch menu is available Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Batch Gastropub, 30 SW 12th St., Miami. Visit batchmiami.com.
