When the earthquake in Haiti shocked the world with the widespread death and destruction, a group of people from South Beach pulled together to raise over $10 million in aid through a community group that was later named 1st & Alton.
They'll hold an event named Rehabili-Haitian at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at the Mutiny Hotel in Coconut Grove. There is a $20 suggested donation and 100 percent of all the proceeds will be donated to Haitian relief efforts.
There will be an open bar, silent auction and music from DJ Vidal, Arboles Libres and other artists. Grey Goose and Bombay Sapphire will help support the event. That's right, there's an open bar from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy food donated by some of Miami's finest restaurants.
Atchana's East West Kitchen, which is located inside the Mutiny, jumped on the opportunity to give back to our Haitian neighbors
who so desperately need the help. Siriporn Lek Chuaindhara, whose
family owns Atchana's East West Kitchen, said, "I wanted to get involved
with doing this Haiti fundraiser because I was so moved by the
devastation in Haiti and inspired by the efforts of 1st & Alton. It
was amazing how they were able to activate an entire community."
At the event Atchana's East West Kitchen will be serving their famous
sesame noodles, homemade Thai eggrolls, chicken dumplings and curry
puffs. They will also be serving sushi donated by Thai Cafe.
If you are in the mood for something a little more than appetizers,
there are a myriad of dinner specials to tempt your sophisticated
palate. You can choose from chicken teriyaki ($10), yellow chicken curry
($10), chicken volcano ($10). You can substitute any of the specials
with tofu and vegetables for $8 or shrimp for $12. And make sure to take advantage of the
Thai egg rolls for $2 or the chicken satay for $5.
