Miami might not be known for chocolate, that doesn't mean there aren't shops in the area that offer some of the best. Here are the five top places where you can get your hands on some good stuff.

Mr. Ganache, 900 S. Miami Ave., Miami; 305-377-8880; mrganache.com

Mr. Ganache sells truffles, chocolate bars, and boxes of chocolates — many made by French specialists in New York from Venezuelan product. The chocolate here is more than something to talk about. Choices range from a box of 33 chocolates for $59.40 to ten homemade chocolates for about $20 — which is among the most common thing they sell. Then there are cupcakes in Misha's in South Miami — $1.80 for a small and $2.60 for a big one.  Finally there's ice cream and sorbet, too.

Wendy's Chocolate
, 17858 S. Dixie Hwy., Miami; 305-251-8989; wendyschocolates.com

If you are looking for something sweet like a chocolate lollipop or a chocolate-covered pretzel, Wendy's is the place to go. Wendy herself might even be able to find the perfect piece of chocolate. We even gave her best chocolate a few years ago — at least partially because you could get a personalized chocolate bar for 75 cents. That's right bucko, 75 cents.

Romanicos Chocolate, 1801 Coral Way 305-854-9936, romanicoschocolate.com
The truffles at Romanicos are mouth-watering. There are boxes and boxes of candies that people can choose from, such as the chocoholics and the yummy. The chocolate art goes for $16 to $50 and there are gift towers for anywhere from $10 to $120.

Ghirardelli's, 810 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach; 305-532-2538; ghiradelli.com

Sure, there are lots of of Ghiradelli's chocolate shops everywhere, but we have to admit they are pretty darn tasty. The chocolate is great, and so is the hot fudge that can devour your ice cream sundae — which goes $9.27 with tax.

The Sweet Tooth, 18435 NE 19th Ave., North Miami Beach; 305-682-1400; store.thesweettooth.com

The name pretty much sums it up, but this place is more than just a name. Our favorite stuff is the chocolate-covered fruit — strawberries, bananas, kiwi, and pineapple, which sell for $24 per pound.
