In their infinite wisdom, Hooters executives have come up with a way to reward customers who exhibit a generous spirit this season. No, silly, big tips will not produce a lap dance--Hooters is still a restaurant, after all. But starting this week, when you purchase a $25 or $50 gift card, you get a Santa bonus card worth $5 or $10. So when you buy something for someone else, Hooters gives something to you. Consider it the gift that keeps on giving.
Hooters' own Mike McNeil, veep of marketing, explains the sentiment behind the concept, "They say it is better to give than to receive. Now Hooters lets you do both. With the Santa Bonus Card, there is a 20 percent gift back for shoppers when purchasing a Hooters Gift Card for family or friends." How sweet. And to think that I used to consider anyone who worked for Hooters a big boob.
As part of its marketing strategy seasonal generosity, Hooters has also rolled out a seasonal merchandise program (don't they also do that for football, baseball, and basketball seasons too?). You can now embarrass your little brother by surprising him on Christmas morning with the 2011 Hooters Calendar or a deck of Hooters playing cards (we wonder what happens when you shuffle?).
So take advantage of women Hooters this holiday season and get your bonus Santa card, valid January 3 through February 28. And remember folks--they can be used toward all beverage, food and merchandise items, excluding alcohol! Even with a gift card, you still have to pay for beer.
