Every March, Miami welcomes electronica-crazed masses eager to sweat and do drugs all over our Winter Music Conference. This year, Camarena Tequila will be feeding both the conference tourists, art walkers, and the food truck-crazed locals with tequila-infused tacos.
You heard right. Tacos with tequila in them. The booze company's food truck make its way around town for the next month and a half. The Camarena truck will be making its first appearance on March 7 at noon in downtown Miami at 244 NE First Ave. The tacos were designed by chef Jose Gonzalez a graduate of the French Culinary Institute and former executive chef at 10 Degrees bar in New York who now lives in Miami.
The tequila company is sponsoring our instate rivals, the Orlando Magic, but Kylie Garrett, who does PR for Camarena told us, the Disneyheads get the sports team, but we get the taco truck. "We have chosen marketing activations to fit each city in Florida. The outdoor culture in Miami is why we are doing the taco truck there, whereas, in Orlando, there is only one major sports team, so we feel this a great place to capitalize with the Magic and build awareness."
Build awareness? Fair enough.
The truck will be tapping into "the vibrant street culture of the city." Well, if we do say so ourselves, our street culture, if not yet totally vibrant, is definitely up and coming. With food truck meet-ups taking place daily from Kendall to North Miami, we're getting the hang of getting together off the sand.
The truck will make its way around downtown, midtown, Calle Ocho, and Wynwood for art walk. This is just the first week. Keep track of where the truck is on Twitter.
