According to Curbed, Trader Joe's has inked a deal to lease the former Borders Bookstore at 9205 S. Dixie Hwy., across the street from the Dadeland South Metrorail station.

Trader Joe's currently has two stores in Florida, both on the west

coast. Though rumors have abounded that the store is coming to South

Florida, the chain's headquarters in Monrovia, California, has robustly denied any plans to open in our neighborhood.

In August, our sister blog, Clean Plate Charlie, spoke with Allison Mochizuki, director of national publicity for

Trader Joe's, who said, "Palm Beach, Florida, is

not in our two-year plan."  She didn't, however, say anything about Miami or what lies beyond 2014.

The Trader Joe's website,

which lists upcoming locations, has no information about a Miami store. We

will update you with any additional

information.
