The rumor mill was spinning yesterday that Sam Gorenstein, Beard-nominated chef formerly of BLT Steak, was set to open his new venture called My Ceviche at 235 Washington Avenue in South Beach. Miami's Restaurant Power Rankings reported this back in August, but had the projected opening date pegged for October 15, the start of stone crab season.

"It's definitely an amazing project that we are very excited to get going," Gorenstein told me last night. But then the letdown: "I'm gonna be able to release all details for you next week."

So, back to the basics: My Ceviche will be located next door to Joe's Stone Crab, but partnered by George Stone Crab owner Roger Duarte -- which will no doubt make owners of the former rather crabby. My Ceviche, says our rumorer, will offer take out and delivery only, and prices will be "40% lower than at Joe's." And, finally, we heard it was set to open in two weeks, yet Gorenstein says that "We don't have an exact date yet. But it's very soon!"<

When we hear back from Sam with more details about My Ceviche, you'll be the first to know.
