This Saturday, May 14 a group of Miami bloggers (disclosure: I'm one of them) will bring their baked treats to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden for the National Food Bloggers Bake Sale.

For the campaign, food bloggers around the country hold sales in their cities to raise funds for Share Our Strength. Why? Not to be a downer here but there are many children in our country whose school lunch is the only warm meal they get in a day. Share Our Strength supports school breakfast, after school and summer school meal programs and teaches families how to prepare affordable meals.

On Saturday, you can expect Freakin' Flamingo fruit jams, cupcakes from 2 Girls and a Cupcake and Cupcakes Noveau, Miami Dish's coconut cookies filled with mango-papaya jam prepared by Common Threads Director Mimi Chacin, La Diva Cucina's lime bars with toasted coconut and more. You can also enter a raffle to win gift certificates to Michael's Genuine Food & Drink and to Eleanor Hoh's Wok Star cooking classes.

The garden will be hosting its annual bougainvillea plant sale. You can also check out the sculptures of Claude and Francois-Xavier Lalanne.

The sale takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission to the garden is free for members and $25 for adult non-members. Discount coupons are available on the garden's website. Donations to Share Our Strength are also being accepted here.
