If you've ever felt the need to alter your birth date, well join the club. Chef Julia Child hated to have her real birthday fall on August 15 so she decided to celebrate it a month later because all her friends were back from their vacations, bearing gifts and well wishes in September.

Marking her un-birthday, Les Dames d'Escoffier Miami chapter is throwing a big bash on September 15 and also organizing several pre-events that promise to make Alice, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare and the White Rabbit jealous of the festivities.

This upcoming Julia Child celebration dedicated to JC's commitment to gastronomy, education and philanthropy, with net proceeds benefiting Les Dames' Legacy Awards, kicks off on Wednesday, September 12, with the Nespresso Grand Cru Tasting at Bloomingdale's at The Falls at 7 p.m. The following day, September 13, another similar event will take place at the Bloomingdale's Aventura store, also at 7 p.m. For reservations, call 305-792-1213.

On the 15th, Whole Foods Market & Miami Dade College/ Miami Dade Culinary Institute, Wolfson campus will host various events starting with, a seminar and cooking demo at MDC Culinary Institute at 10:30 a.m. entitled "From Julia's Kitchen to Yours" given by chef Michelle Bernstein. Cost is $60 per person (almost sold out). Miami Culinary Institute, 415 NE Second Ave., Third floor.

From 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. "Backstage with Julia" narrated by author Nancy Verde Barr, Julia's longtime assistant. Book signing to follow, hosted by Books & Books. $30 per person, $20 affiliated organizations and $10 for students with ID. Location: MDC 300 NE Second Ave., Building 1, Room 1261.

Starting at 3 to 4:30 p.m., Media Evolution, "From Mastering the Art of French Cooking to Tweeting for Your Supper" with a panel discussion moderated by Carole Kotkin, Miami Herald journalist. $30 per person, $20 affiliated organizations and $10 for students with ID. MDC 300 NE Second Ave., Building 1, Room 1261.

At 5 p.m. join Les Dames for a cocktail party at the MDC Freedom Tower featuring small plates and sweets, crafted by the MCI Chef's Council and their friends. Festive libations and a gastronomic culinary/travel themed silent auction. $75 per person, 600 Biscayne Blvd., Miami.

Tuyo Restaurant and Miami Culinary Institute is preparing a delicious bash entitled "An American in Paris" with a Julia inspired "Centenaire" five-course intimate dinner starting at 7:30 p.m. Party on with chef Norman Van Aken who will be cooking up a storm.
