With only six weeks to recruit and a limited number of scholarships to dole out head coach Al Golden has done a solid, though not spectacular, job at putting together his first recruiting class. The group is led by two five-star (as rated by Scout.com, anyway) defensive ends: Anthony Chickillo (a third generation Miami player) and Jalen Grimble (who surprisingly switched his commitment at the last minute from USC). Though, not a single quarterback is included, but four-star recruit Jacoby Brissett is said to be leaning towards UM.

Grimble and Chickillo will be huge additions to the 'Canes historically elite D-Line. Grimble is rated the seventh best defensive tackle in the class, while Chickillo is rated the third best defensive end. Four-star linebacker Denzel Perryman rounds out the recruiting star power for the D. Though 'Canes fans aren't nearly as concerned about the defense as they are the offense.

Missing from the recruiting class are any quarterbacks and much offensive power. Running back Kevin Grooms, a four star recruit, is the biggest catch for the O.

Though, Jacoby Brissett, rated by Scout.com as the ninth best QB in the class, has decided to prolong his decision until Friday. He's narrowed his choices down to Washington, Wisconsin and Miami, and considering he's from Palm Beach Gardens there's some speculation that Miami is the front runner.

Frankly, though, recruiting service analysis and all that only mean so much. Let's not forget that part of Larry Coker's recruiting downfall came because his staff relied a little too heavily on sites like Scout and Rivals.

The day has been pretty good to 'Canes fans considering the coaching change. Perhaps the worst news is that those damned 'Noles have put together what is considered one of the top recruiting classes in the country.
