One conspicuous absence from the Miami Marlin's big celebration on Friday to officially unveil their new name, logo, uniforms, color scheme and stadium: Billy the Marlin. Usually a centerpiece of most team events, the world's only fish with feet was nowhere to be seen, leaving some to wonder if the mascot wasn't making the move to Little Havana with the club. Fear not, the team says a revamped Billy will return.
Of course, the new Marlins logo includes roughly one half of the colors found in the rainbow. Thankfully those colors include blue and yellow, which happens to be the coloring of actual marlins. Hopefully we don't have to worry about an 8-foot tall orange sports fish walking around the stadium. Then again, the new logo does indeed feature an orange marlin, so who knows.
Despite the team's struggles in popularity over the years, Billy has remained inexplicably beloved. Forbes ranked him America's 10th most popular sporting mascot earlier this year according to a survey of sports fans.
