We all know cigarettes are deadly, but for at least the second time this year in Miami a man has died following a fight that started over a cigarette.

An unidentified 54-year-old man is dead after a fight broke out somehow spurred by an argument about a smoke. 29-year-old Frank Alonso has been arrested and charged with second degree murder.

The incident occured around 8 p.m. last night at Superior Assisted Living Facility at 70 East 21st Street in Hialeah.

Police say Alonso and his victim got into a fist fight after the initial verbal argument. The fight escalated until both men were bashing the other with chairs. Eventually the older man fell to the ground, at which point Alonso allegedly would not relent.

Alonso begin to pummel the downed man in his face and torso. By the time authorities wound up on the scene blood was pouring from the man's lifeless face. The death has been ruled a homicide.

This isn't the first fight over a cigarette that lead to a death this year. Back in may 35-year-old Sosthen Louis was arrested after he attacked a 26-year-old man because they man would not bum a cigarette outside a club. The victim's head fatally hit the concrete sidewalk.
