Shaquille O'Neal is officially retired from the NBA, but the former Miami Heat star may not have exhibited his last feat of athleticism in Miami-Dade just yet. Today, O'Neal confirmed rumors from a few months ago that he's thinking about wrestling in a match when the WWE brings Wrestlemania to Sun Life Stadium in February.
O'Neal appeared on Abe Kanan's Sirius satellite radio show yesterday and revealed that he's in discussions to take on WWE wrestler The Big Show at Wrestlemania 28 according to What Culture. The two are evenly matched, at least in the height department. They're both 7'1.
O'Neal is a longtime wrestling fan and has made appearances on WCW and WWE programming in the past but has never participated in an official match before.
While appearing as a guest referee on WWE Raw a few years back he did get into a brief confrontation with Big Show:
Wrestlemania 28 will also feature the long awaited return of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to the squared circle. Yes, we all know wrestling is a bit silly, but don't laugh too much. Wrestling's biggest event promises to leave a big mark on Miami-Dade's economy. Last year's event in Phoenix pumped over $45 million into the local economy, so any added star power is certainly good news.
