When police at the University of Central Florida responded to a fire alarm in a dorm early this morning, they found a nightmare scenario: one man dead of a gunshot wound inside a dorm room full of improvised explosives and heavy weaponry.
UCF has now canceled classes and evacuated hundreds of students as the FBI moves in to investigate.
A fire alarm sounded inside Tower 1, a large on-campus dorm, just before 12:30 a.m., a campus spokesman tells the AP. As officers were en route to check it out, another call came in that a man with a gun was inside the same hall.
When police arrived, they found that man dead of what's believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The AP reports that officials are still trying to determine if the dead man was a UCF student.
