Looking to make a donation to a nonprofit organization that will put your dollars to good use? Well, apparently your best bet in the entire United State of America is right down in Coral Gables. Worth magazine in conjunction with nonprofit watchdog Charity Navigator has named the University of Miami the most fiscally responsible nonprofit in the entire country.

"The organizations on this list have consistently demonstrated financial health and spend a high percentage of their budgets on programming," writes Worth. "And due to a new, more rigorous rating system, which tracks accountability and transparency, it's an entirely new crop at the top this year -- including some nonprofits that might surprise you."

UM, one of only two universities to make the list, beat out charities like Food for the Poor, Citizens for Animal Protection, and The Children's Aid Society to take top honors.

"This designation represents the sentiments put forth by our donors when we speak to them about how they can help further our mission," says UM Senior Vice President of University Advancement and External Affairs Sergio M. Gonzalez in a release. "As we prepare to launch another campaign in the next few months, we look forward to this ongoing engagement with our donors, and we will continue to adhere to the accountability that they have come to expect from us."

Oh, that University of Miami, always so engaged with their donors. Just ask Nevin Shapiro!
