Since Riptide seems to be the premier destination for news about eco-friendly cars in Miami, here is your latest news: Tesla (the electric car company invested in by the men behind Google) unveiled a new sedan to complement their roadster. It's called the model S. They also promise that they'll open their Miami dealership/service center by the end of the year.
The Model S is expected to sell for just under $50k (with federal tax credits), but the company is hoping for a $350,000,000 grant from the Department of Energy to kick start production.
$350 million is a lot, sure, but maybe it would be better to invest in a company that has a firm grasp on the future, rather than a floundering company like GE who can't seem to figure out today.
Oh, well look. Actually GE is investing quite heavily in Tesla Motors. Which is either fantastic news or bad news depending on how you look at it.
