This past Sunday afternoon in Liberty City, suspects began shooting at two men inside a silver Nissan. The bullets left DeRon Woody dead and Greg Roberts injured. The suspects then fled in a black Buick sedan.

"It was sad. It was dramatic," a witness told WSVN. "I saw a guy, a black male with little dreads, crawling out of the car and saying, 'Help me, help me, help me.'"

The incident occurred near NW 55th Street and Ninth Avenue. The suspects shot several rounds into the car.

Woody and Roberts were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Woody did not survive, but Roberts is in stable condition.

"My nephew was in the wrong place at the wrong time. My nephew worked. He was raising three girls," Woody's aunt told the news station. "When I wake up, I always ask the Lord: 'Lord, thank you for blowing breath in my body, allowing me to see another day.' I mean, it's becoming like a war zone out here."

The getaway car was found abandoned hours later, and the gunmen have not been caught. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
