The best year in Miami sports is always next year.
Sure, the Miami Marlins may have turned a promising start in their new stadium into a full fledged failure, but don't worry Marlins fans, all five of you that are left, owner Jeffrey Loria says the team will be able to compete next year!
"I don't think it's going to take a long time at all," Loria told the Miami Herald of the team's rebuilding process.
Loria refused to comment on whether the jobs of manager Ozzie Guillen or front office staffers were safe, but did indicate that the team should have busy offseason.
"We're going to have to do some work to fill some holes we've obviously created," Loria said. "But I don't want to fill them just for the sake of filling them. We need to fill them to complement some of the other really good parts that are here."
As for the team's current status, Loria did say he was "thrilled" with at least one part of the team's performance.
"Watching Jose Reyes. Every breath he takes is worth watching," he says.
Yes folks, collect your spare change, buy those Marlins tix on StubHub, and come out to that beautiful new tax-payer funded stadium to watch ... Jose Reyes breathe. It's thrilling! The man is a master at exhaling.
As for whether or not the team will actually be able to figure it out in time for next season, well, don't hold your breath.
