Last Wednesday, the early contender for young 2010's most senseless murder of the year went down at the People's Self-Storage on NW 79th Street.
Just after 12:30 in the afternoon, a 55-year-old Haitian-American woman named Joslin Augustin visited the center to pick up some blankets and warm clothes she'd stored there after losing her job last year.Police arrested Henton last night at his home, near NW 24th Street and 12th Avenue, in connection with an unrelated burglary in Miami Gardens, according to his arrest report. At the station, Henton confessed on video to robbing and murdering Augustin, the report says.
Henton faces three felony charges in Augustin's death, for first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a felony, and armed robbery. Miami Gardens Police charged him with a seperate count of armed robbery in their case.
In 2000, Henton was convicted of felony armed robbery. Riptide's records search shows seven cases on Henton's file, including charges of sexual battery with a weapon, petty theft, and marijuana possession.
Police are still looking for Henton's accomplice in Augustin's death, says Officer Kenia Reyes, a Miami PD spokesperson.
Based on surveillance from the crime scene, he drives a white, four-door Mazda. The driver is a light-skinned black man in his mid-20s with long dreadlocks, Reyes says. His nickname, according to cops, is "Yellow Man" or "Yellow Boy."
