When you combine a guy who coaches a team from New Jersey with guys beating the crap out of each other for entertainment, you really shouldn't expect anything classy.

While attending a Strike Force mixed martial arts event at the BankAtlantic Center, the New York Jets' Rex Ryan ran into some Dolphins fans who promptly greeted the first-year head coach with a taunt of "Dolphins rule, Jets suck" -- a humble claim backed up by the Fins beating the Jets both times this year. Ryan reportedly replied with a "Go fuck yourself" and a middle finger. Whoops, it got recorded on cell phone cam and sent to 790 the Ticket

"It was stupid and inappropriate," Ryan said in a statement apologizing for the gesture. "I wouldn't accept that type of behavior from one of the coaches or players, and it's unacceptable from me. I apologize to the Jets organization, the National Football League, and NFL fans everywhere."

The incident is being investigated by the NFL, and similar gestures by coaches have resulted in $250,000 fines.
