Well, well, well, what do we have here, Heat fans? It seems to me what we have here is some members of what many refer to as the best fan base in sports leaving a championship game early with their team on the verge of a loss. Crazy, right? Damn, that sounds familiar as hell. I feel like this has happened before. Oh, now I remember.
Some Seahawks fans felt the NFC Championship Game was a goner last night with their team down 15 with 2:09 left in regulation, then all shit broke loose, and hope was restored. The fans apparently heard about it on their way to their cars, and then, well, you know how this ends -- not well for the people that decided a five minute start on their walk of shame was worth missing the end of a hugely important game.
Just like Heat fans did in 2013, these Seattle fans got caught looking through a glass door at a bunch of security guards who were wagging their fingers like Dikembe Mutumbo -- "no-no-nooooo"!
The Seahawks eventually won the game and advanced to the Super Bowl, thanks to an overtime 35-yard touchdown catch by Jermaine Kearse. Most every Seahawks fan stayed, but a few didn't, and those fans got caught on camera -- oh did they ever get caught on camera.
Miami Heat nation had to crack a little smile watching this unfold yesterday. The entire sports world killed the entire city of Miami because a handful of Heat fans decided a four-point Spurs lead with 28 seconds left in Game 6 2013 NBA Finals was too much to overcome. So they went home. Which is dumb, but it turns out humans aren't different in Miami. Some are dumb, some are smart, and some want to get home in time to watch the new episode of Shameless.
Yet I'm sure today we will hear nothing about how Seahawks fans leaving early proves their entire city and franchise is terrible. We'll just read about their terrific comeback. It is what it is, Miami. You can't win.
